Education is more than a pathway it is a lifeline. In 2026, the Lena Marshall Foundation (LMF) proudly partnered with School in a Bag to place that lifeline directly into the hands of children across Grenada. Through this powerful collaboration, 1,276 school bags filled with essential learning tools were distributed to students in need, strengthening educational access and restoring dignity for families across the island.

A Message from Our Executive Director

Lena Thomas-Marshall, Executive Director of the Lena Marshall Foundation, shared a heartfelt reflection on the impact of this initiative:

“Education is one of the most powerful tools we can give a child, and this donation from School in a Bag has helped us place that power directly into the hands of more than a thousand young people across Grenada. Each school bag represents hope, dignity, and the belief that every child deserves the chance to learn, grow, and thrive.”

Her words echo the gratitude felt across communities from parents relieved of financial pressure to teachers witnessing renewed motivation in their classrooms.

Empowering Students Across Grenada

This year’s distribution reached 24 institutions, including 19 schools and 5 community groups, ensuring that children from rural, underserved, and economically challenged areas received the support they need to succeed.

Schools Reached

From St. Martin de Porres Catholic School to Sacred Heart Tivoli School, the programme supported over 1,000 students across primary, secondary, and special education institutions.

Community Groups Supported

Five community organisations including Camp GLOW, Community Moya, and Mt. Rose Community received bags to strengthen youth development programmes and safe spaces for girls.

Impact Highlights

📘 Reaching Underserved Communities

Many families struggle to afford basic school supplies. These bags ensured that children could attend school with confidence and readiness.

🌟 Supporting Special Education Needs

The Grenada School for Special Education received tailored bags to meet diverse learning needs, helping students participate more fully in classroom activities.

👧🏽 Empowering Girls Through Camp GLOW

Camp GLOW used the donated bags to support leadership and mentorship programmes for young women, reinforcing empowerment and community-building.

💙 Reducing Financial Pressure

With rising living costs, parents expressed deep relief. The donation allowed families to redirect limited resources toward food, transportation, and other essentials.

Voices from the Community

“These bags came at the perfect time. Many of our students had nothing to carry their books in. Now they walk with pride.” — Teacher
“Your thoughtfulness and generosity are deeply appreciated. May you be abundantly blessed for your kindness and support.” — Camp GLOW
