Welcome to our community-based initiative in Grenada. During this program we will have a volunteer from West Africa who will be volunteering with us for 12 months.

​

Our volunteer will be committed to contributing their skills and experience toward inclusive development and sustainable projects in Grenada.

​

Roots & Routes: Africa–Caribbean Cultural Exchange Hub will create a dynamic cultural and entrepreneurial bridge between Africa and the Caribbean, rooted in ancestral knowledge, sustainable agriculture, and women-led innovation. “Roots & Routes "celebrates shared heritage while cultivating new pathways for community empowerment and economic resilience.

  Objectives

- Revive and share African and Caribbean cultural traditions through performance, storytelling, and culinary arts.

​

- Empower women entrepreneurs through cross-continental mentorship

​

- Document and amplify diaspora voices through digital media.

​

 Core Activities

​

• Cultural Residency Circuit | African drumming, dance, and storytelling

​

• Volunteer with LMF Women’s Entrepreneur Centre supporting our various workshops and programmes.

​

• Culture Crossing – African Caribbean Culinary experience. Engage with communities on the origin of Saraca and its African link.

​

• African cookery lessons in local communities using local ingredients. Such as the potato and cassava leaves which aren’t eaten in Grenada and it’s a common meal in West Africa.

​

• Visit and work with Grenadian women entrepreneurs who produce Farine and how their method differs to the African method. In West Africa it's called Garri.

​

• Experience the process of corning fish as opposed to the smoked and dried fish from Africa.

• Culinary Heritage Festival - Vegan and Ital food showcases, cooking demos, and cultural feasts

​

• All activities are to be filmed to showcase the experience.

The Africa–Caribbean connection is ripe for revival. With rising interest in heritage, sustainability, and diaspora-led development, “Roots & Routes” offers a timely, tangible way to honour the past while building the future.
